Furry visitors/Funeral...

Well as far as i can tell the lads are all dead and gone... noise free nights for the past week, put down poision in the attic and traps... removed three dead mice, found another so full in the dogs nut bag that he could not move ;) poor devil, no poision has been eaten in the last week either.
So went blocking and sealing all holes around waste pipes into the house with spray foam and mortar, hopefully the house is now vermen proof.
Also we seemed to have lots of spiders appearing were coming in around the pipes of the rads, sealed up all those holes the weekend too, some massively crazy spiders, the wolf spider, hopefully this solves all the problems, the other half has now purchased two gadgets... i dunno if they work or not, but the few flies that were in the house lost all ability to fly after about 5 hours... concidence???

Hi Jollyman,

I think you have put togethter a terrfic blog, you deserve alot of credit for the hard work you have put in!

I have a query however (a good one i thin), in your cost breakdown, you take you overall cost and divide by your total sq.ft to give you a cost of €76.66, but you have only taken the floor area of the ground floor (243m2), meaning you actually built your home for less per sq,ft than you think! on the earlier drawing the m2 of your home is coming up more like 341m2 plus downstairs hall.(maybe you reduced the size of your home since you posted the draings)(correct me if im wrong)

Hi there house,

Yea technically your query is correct, the planning drawings are on the third page of the blog, these are the ones the cost plan is based on, as the upstairs is only for storage space i have not taken this into consideration in the cost plan. I based it only on the ground floor, in reality the house has been built for €66/sqft i really must get around to posting the summary.

I'll second those comments by House. I'm building at the moment and your blog is a great source of information. God knows where you've found the time. Well done!

Hi again Jollyman,

im find myself back on your blog agina, its a great source of information, im only in pre planning stage and like you im finding it terribly frustraing, 7 months now no application made as planner still not happy, on the google web pages you a budget tracker from sub to floor level, (very handy for all the rates) any chance of you posting same from floor level up?
